Southwest Florida International Airport RSW - Terminal E

Fort Myers, FL

    Project Overview

Suffolk was selected by the Lee County Port Authority to lead the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) through a significant addition and renovation project.

This project is set to redefine the airport’s landscape, both functionally and aesthetically.

The project scope includes a new ticketing lobby, Bag Claim Area, and a new baggage handling system, including a CBIS (Checked Baggage Inspection System) and CBRA (Checked Baggage Reconciliation Area). Extending from this new terminal will be the addition of Concourse E, providing 14 fully operational gates and the infrastructure to support 19 gates in the future. Concourse E will feature a new TSA checkpoint, expanded retail and concessions, airside improvements and chiller plant building upgrades. All gates will have an aircraft fuel distribution system, and the project includes major rework of taxiways surrounding the new concourse. In order to build the terminal extension, two existing gates had to be removed from Terminal D and the project included relocation of these two gates to the end of terminal D as an enabling project.

Outside of the airport, new roadways and pedestrian bridges will be built to enhance the passenger experience for arrivals and departures. Suffolk's team will prioritize uninterrupted operations, as RSW will remain active through the duration of the project.
