At Suffolk, our five core values drive everything we do, starting with passion — the genuine love for what we do, and a heartfelt pride in transforming dreams into iconic, complex structures.
Our profound desire to do what’s right, and to act with honesty and decency — always.
Grit and determination to produce exceptional work and overcome any and all obstacles.
Leadership by example in our attitude and attire, setting high expectations for those around us.
A deep concern and kindness for those around us — inside and outside of Suffolk’s walls — and a responsibility to positively impact our communities.
Our Mission
Integrating the entire building lifecycle into a seamless platform powered by people, data and innovation.

Our History

Chairman and CEO John Fish founded Suffolk in 1982, with one project in greater Boston — and big ambitions. In 1994, we started building in Florida, then made the leap to the West Coast in 1998.

Between 2013 and 2025, we opened offices in New York, Texas, Maine, Virginia, Connecticut and Nevada, firmly establishing our footprint and identity as America’s Contractor.

Bottom line: people build buildings. To help them reach their full potential, we launched our Career Start rotational program in 2004, followed by Build With Us @ Suffolk — our accelerator for underrepresented small businesses — in 2010.

We live our core value of caring by putting people first. That principle comes to life through Giving Circle, founded in 1994, and Suffolk Cares, which we established in 2006.

We have a bold vision. Through the launch of Suffolk Capital and Suffolk Technologies in 2019 and Suffolk Design in 2020, we’re creating a winning strategy to achieve our ambitions.
About Suffolk
We’re all in for the communities where we build. That takes many forms: volunteering our time, sharing our skills, delivering financial support and providing opportunities for our neighbors.
