NYU Langone Health: Specialty Pharmacy & Immunogenetics Laboratory

Brooklyn, NY

    Project Overview

In Building Ten of Brooklyn’s Industry City, NYU Langone Health is working with Suffolk to fit out a Specialty Pharmacy and Immunogenetics Laboratory.

The pharmacy currently occupies floor three and was completed as the initial phase of the project. The laboratory is under construction on floor 11. Throughout construction, four other tenants, including a school and a mental health service center, have remained active in the building.

The Suffolk team implemented Plan + Control protocol before starting work on this job. During that process, calculations utilizing 3D mapping technology, historical data, and industry expertise informed the Suffolk team’s plan for coordinating logistics throughout construction to ensure the project remained on schedule and was budgeted accurately.

For example, fit-out for both facilities required specialized equipment and significant modification to support NYU Langone’s program. The Suffolk team coordinated the installation of a knock down AHU in the mechanical equipment room (MER) and rooftop AHUs, a new chiller, and a modular rooftop generator enclosure. The additional equipment ensured that critical areas of the pharmacy and lab had pressurized rooms and emergency power.

Using Open Space technology, the Suffolk team has maintained transparency and accelerated coordination with the owner and architect. Open Space allows the team to capture real-time 3D imaging while walking the space. The imaging is relayed to the owner and architect, allowing them to remain off-site but make on-site decisions.
