What is the most exciting thing about working in this business? What is your professional passion?

The most exciting thing about working in this business is the physical manifestation of our efforts. In construction, all of our countless hours of work result in a functional building that can be used for any number of things: housing, lab spaces, higher education and more. Our projects result in something that stands for years. They can change a city’s skyline, like Suffolk’s One Dalton project in Boston or MIRO in San Jose, Calif. These buildings are beautiful and artistic. Having spent so much time and effort on them, I find myself talking endlessly about the most minute details on these projects. My professional passion is the development of our people. I enjoy teaching and elevating my team members, and giving them some tricks of the trade and lessons learned along the way. It’s fun for me to tell them some stories and pitfalls I’ve encountered, and I love seeing them use their new tools in their own career advancement and success.
