Regis is many things. He's an architect by training and a painter by passion. Recently, he started painting some of the projects that Suffolk Construction works on and framing the paintings as gifts for the clients.

"So, I just start with a blue pencil sketch. The reason for the blue pencil is when you're doing the watercolors, the blue actually is easier to kind of disappear and fades into the shadows,” he said.

It started with the completion of a project at Somerville High School An original print was given to the mayor. Regis was given high praise, which led to more paintings.

Regis has also painted the Schiller Institute at Boston College, and he is in the process of painting the Boston University Alumni Center.

Regis said he would not mind if current or future clients also wanted a painting of their projects.

“Knowing that a painting and a sketch takes time, there's some care and passion that's involved. When you gift it, or when you give it to somebody, there's that — a level of appreciation that kind of accompanies the work," he said.
