What is the most exciting thing about working in this business? What is your professional passion?
The construction industry never gets boring. I enjoy the process of building and the challenge of delivering a client’s vision. It seems like the last 40 years have gone by in a blink of an eye, but there’s always a new project out there waiting to be built, and my hope is that Suffolk will have an opportunity to build it.
What do you love to do when you aren’t at work? What is your personal passion and why?
I enjoy the outdoors with family — I am blessed to have children and grandchildren who live nearby, so I cherish the time we spend together. They are my passion.
What sport did you play and how did it help you professionally?
I was fortunate to play many sports growing up, but I learned the most from long-distance running which is still a passion of mine today. Long-distance running has helped me develop a mental toughness and discipline that continues to serve me well.
What is your favorite quote?
“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” — Steve Prefontaine
Who was your mentor/biggest influence and what did they teach you?
My father. He always taught me to go about my work without worrying about praise. If praise is deserved, it will come.
If you could have lunch with someone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Sir Edmund Hilary. I would like to hear his honest assessment of what it took to climb Mount Everest.
