Dave DeFilippo

What is the most exciting thing about working in this business? What is your professional passion?
I enjoy the fact that the outcome of our work is tangible. I’m inspired by our project teams who are passionate about what they build.

What is your favorite community cause or philanthropic organization to support and why?
I have two non-profits that are important to me: The first is Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in the Berkshires, which is an incredible organization that helps aspiring dancers follow their career aspirations through their schools. The second is Tabor Academy where I learned the value of education and determination as a student-athlete.

Who is/was your favorite person you ever worked with and why?
One of the greatest people I ever worked with was my first manager early in my career. My manager always drilled into me that I would only be as successful as the people I developed, and he encouraged me to teach them to replace me. That has proven to be very sage career advice.

What sport did you play and how did it help you professionally?
I ran cross-country and track in high school and college and learned many of my leadership lessons as an athlete. My lens for our people and culture practices is rooted in my time as an athlete and coach—I focus on the ways to optimize individual and team performance.

What is your favorite quote?
