What is the most exciting thing about working in this business? What is your professional passion?
I am hugely inspired by Suffolk’s mission to drive innovation in this industry. The combination of Suffolk’s strong foundation with our aspirations to do more — and do things differently — gets me up in the morning.
What do you love to do when you aren’t at work? What is your personal passion and why?
My family is the happy center of my non-working life. My two girls and husband and I love to play board games, RV and hike around the American West and watch “Survivor” together. When I get solo time, I enjoy reading fiction and practicing yoga.
Who is/was your favorite person you ever worked with and why?
My favorite people to work with embody integrity, kindness, straightforwardness, intelligence and service. I have encountered these values in colleagues in all roles throughout my career. When I find these people, I work hard to stay connected to them.
What book has helped you most in your career?
“Profit from the Core” is a business classic. It is an ode to focusing on the basics: putting in the daily work to get better at what you’re already good at, strengthening your core business first and then, cautiously, looking for ways to expand into related spaces. There’s often pressure to chase the new or the interesting in business, but your highest odds of success are usually in doing more of what you’re already doing.
